Throughout 2013, the City of Hesperia was proud to celebrate its 25th Anniversary with our residents by hosting a variety of events.
Kicking off our celebrations was the opening of the Ranchero Road Underpass, a monumental undertaking that had been a dream for residents since before incorporation. The Underpass had been talked about for so long that it even earned the slogan that it would be built "when pigs fly".

Well on June 30, on the eve of our 25th Anniversary, more than 900
residents and members of the community braved the heat and came out to
officially open the Ranchero Underpass in a 5K Fun Run.
In addition to the 5K, residents also had the opportunity to join in the classic car parade and be one of the first to drive down the newly opened road. Since the day it was opened, the Ranchero Road Underpass has been making life easier for our residents and for our entire High Desert community.

Following the kick off of our 25th Anniversary, the City was excited to help host the 65th Annual Hesperia Days Celebration.
The theme for this year's Hesperia Days event was a look back to "the Good Old Days". In a nod to that theme, the City put on a pie eating contest, sack races for the kids and also helped sponsor the best fireworks display yet.
In November, the City also sponsored the Route 103.1 Hot Rod Halloween Fall Fest and Fireworks show. With live entertainment, carnival games, trick-or-treating for the kids, craft and food vendors all followed up with another fantastic fireworks display, it was a very exciting event.
Overall, we've had a very memorable past year celebrating our 25th Anniversary with our residents and we can't wait to see what's on the horizon. With our City continuing to grow and prosper, we look forward to sharing new memories with our community in the years to come.
As part of this vision, we are happy to announce our 25th Anniversary Time Capsule!
City of Hesperia 25th Anniversary Time Capsule
A time capsule is a collection of historical information and mementos that captures the life experiences of a community and preserves it for the next generation. After a year long celebration of the City of Hesperia's 25th Anniversary, we are planning a time capsule to commemorate the past year as well as the last 25 years since our incorporation.
In preparation for the project, the City had asked Hesperia students grades K-12 to submit a poem about their life and experiences in Hesperia. Winners from each grade level were selected to have their poem placed in the time capsule.
In addition to the Poetry Contest, we also held a Photo Contest, asking local photographers to submit “My Hesperia” themed photos. Five winners were selected to have their photographs placed in the time capsule. Photos will be on display at City Hall through the summer and published right here on the City of Hesperia website.
Rather than being buried, Hesperia's 25th Anniversary Time Capsule will be on display in City Hall after it is sealed.
Winning submissions entered into the 25th Anniversary Time Capsule can be found here.
